Dolphins split Tuesday doubleheader against Copiah-Lincoln

Delgado split its Tuesday doubleheader against Copiah-Lincoln Community College at "Rags" Scheuermann Field at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.

In the first game, Sebastian Rhoades reached as a hit batter, advanced on a single by Riley Rowell and walk by Jack Marcantel, and scored on a single by Jack Marcantel for the first run of the game. A solo homerun by Riley Rowell expanded the lead to 2-0. In the fourth, a three run homerun gave Copiah-Lincoln the lead. Delgado tied the game when Eli Lirette was hit by a pitch in the fourth and took the lead on a groundout by Everett Denny. A sacrifice fly tied the game in the top of the fifth before the Wolves pulled away in the seventh following a solo homerun and sacrifice fly to close the 6-5 win over Delgado. Chase Williamson suffered the loss, appearing in relief of starter Giancarlo Arencibia who went 4.1 innings. Trey Turnage faced the final four batters of the game.

In game two, Copiah-Lincoln struck first with a run in the third inning. Delgado's Cooper Burch hit a solo homerun to tie the game 1-1. Gavin Kennedy reached on a double and scored on a single by Sebastian Rhoades to give the Dolphins the lead. A triple and double in the fourth tied the game at two. In the sixth, Jack Marcantel doubled and scored on a pinch hit single by Aidan Gernard to give Delgado the 3-2 lead and the eventual win. Jacob Heiden picked up the win on the mound with Jude Tingstrom earning his first save of the season, facing four batters in the seventh inning in relief.
