Delgado opened its 2026 season Thursday with a 10-0, mercy rule win over Bishop State Community College at "Rags" Scheuermann Field at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.

The Dolphins struck early, sending eight batters to the plate in the  bottom of the first inning, plating four runs on three hits, including an RBI single by Joe Monaghan to score Eli Lirette for the first run of the season. Riley Rowell's  two run double and Everett Denny's fielder's choice gave Delgado the early 4-0 lead. Jack Marcantel's single in the first scored Eli Lirette, who reached as a hit batter, stole second and advanced on an overthrow. In  the third, Dominick Letort's double scored Everett Denny after he reached on a single. Lenny Cline doubled and scored on a sacrifice fly by Joe Monaghan. Riley Rowell and Jack Marcantel each walked to open the sixth, advancing on a two run double by Letort. Gavin Kennedy's single scored the tenth and winning run in Everett Denny for the walkoff mercy rule win in six innings.

Starting pitcher Giancarlo Arencibia pitched five innings, allowing only one hit and striking out eleven to pick up the first win of the season. Chase Williamson appeared on inning in relief. 

Delgado (1-0) will travel to Wesson, Mississippi Sunday for a 1:00 doubleheader against Copiah-Lincoln Community College. Co-Lin will travel to New Orleans for a noon doubleheader Tuesday at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.
