Delgado drops Sunday doubleheader at Copiah-Lincoln

Delgado dropped both games of its Sunday doubleheader against Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Wesson, Mississippi, falling to the Wolves 12-2 in game one before dropping a 6-5 decision in game two.

In game one, Copiah-Lincoln's dominant offensive performance opened with a RBI single in the first to take a 1-0 lead. Riley Rowell homered in the second to tie the score 1-1. In the Wolfpack second, Co-Lin sent eleven batters to the plate to combine for eight runs on eight hits to take a 9-1 lead. Delgado added a run in the fourth on a solo home run by Bryce Roberts before Co-Lin plated three runs following four singles and a fielder's choice to take the 12-2 mercy rule win in five innings. Brandon Kragle suffered the loss on the mound with Bryce Pitts appearing in relief.

Delgado took a 2-0 lead to start game two following a sacrifice fly by Sebastian Rhoades that scored Gavin Kennedy, who reached on a walk and advanced on a single by Everett Denny. Riley Rowell's double scored Denny for the second run. In the fourth, Jack Marcantel doubled, advanced on a wild pitch, and scored on a single by Dominick Letort for a third run. Kennedy and Denny reached on back to back singles in the fifth, scored on a double steal and a triple by Jack Marcantel to give Delgado the 5-0 lead. Copiah-Lincoln posted a three run sixth inning to cut the Delgado lead to two. In the seventh, a leadoff triple, walk, and back to back singles tied the game five before a walk off single by John Grissom plated the Wolfpack's sixth and winning run to complete the 6-5 late inning rally over Delgado. Riley Rowell suffered the loss in relief of Aidan Grab, who pitched five scoreless innings and held Copiah-Lincoln to three hits. Trey Turnage faced the final three batters of the game.

Delgado and Copiah-Lincoln will meet in a noon doubleheader Tuesday at 'Rags' Scheuermann Field at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.
