Delgado takes 12-9 win over Pensacola State to close "Rags" Weekend

Delgado rallied with two runs in the fifth and five in the sixth to complete a 12-9 comeback win over Pensacola State Sunday in the finale of the 2026 "Rags" Scheuermann Memorial Weekend at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.

Back-to-back homeruns by Brody Smith and Riley Rowell in the first gave the Dolphins the early 4-0 lead. Pensacola State answered with four runs on five hits in the second, including a homerun to tie the game 4-4. Sebastian Rhoades' sacrifice fly in the third plated Riley Rowell who reached on a leadoff triple. A three run homerun by Pensacola State's Caden Hartman put the Pirates back ahead, plating three in the fourth and one in the fifth to take a 8-5 lead. Dominick Letort doubled to lead off the Dolphin fifth, advancing on a single by Everett Denny. Both runners scored on a single by Sebastian Rhoades and a sacrifice fly by Joe Monaghan to narrow the lead to a run. Delgado sent eleven to the plate in the sixth, scoring two runs on a double by Sebastian Rhoades for the lead, a run on a sacrifice fly by Joe Monaghan, and two runs on a homerun by Jackson Monica to expand the lead to 12-8. Madox Land doubled to open the Pirate seventh, scoring on a single for a ninth run before closer Riley Rowell retired the final out with the tying run at the plate as Delgado took the 12-9 win to even  the weekend series at two games a piece.

Jude Tingstrom picked up his second win of the season, entering the game in the fifth and holding the pirates to one run, two hits, and striking out two. Starter Jacob Heiden went 3.2, Coby Mitchell faced three batters in the fourth and Riley Rowell earned the save facing the final two batters of the game. The game saw a combined twenty one runs on thirty hits.
